Wedding Venues

Burgh House Wedding Photography

I believe there is nothing better than experiencing your photographs in a printed album even years after you said i do.

Burgh House is one of London’s most charming historic wedding venues, tucked away in the heart of Hampstead Village. A Grade I listed Queen Anne house dating back to 1704, it offers couples a refined, intimate setting with a strong sense of heritage, character and warmth. For couples looking for a London venue that feels elegant yet personal, Burgh House is a beautiful choice.

The house offers several rooms licenced for civil ceremonies, each with its own distinct atmosphere. The Music Room is the most popular ceremony space, flooded with natural light and overlooking the garden. It can accommodate up to around 75 guests seated, making it ideal for intimate to mid-sized weddings. The Library is a more intimate option, rich in period details and book-lined walls, and is best suited for smaller ceremonies with up to approximately 20 guests. For couples planning something very small and personal, the Drawing Room provides a refined and private space, perfect for elopements or micro-weddings.

Following the ceremony, couples can use the house for drinks receptions and celebrations. While Burgh House does not operate as a late-night party venue, it is perfectly suited for elegant daytime weddings, relaxed receptions and cultural celebrations. Standing receptions can typically accommodate up to around 100 guests across the ground floor rooms, depending on layout and hire options.

One of Burgh House’s standout features is its garden, which offers a rare sense of calm in central London. The garden is beautifully maintained and works wonderfully for summer ceremonies, drinks receptions and wedding photography. For shoots, the grounds provide a mix of greenery, historic architecture and charming corners that photograph beautifully in all seasons.

Inside, the house offers stunning backdrops with its original fireplaces, sash windows, wooden floors and period details, making it ideal for couples who value timeless, editorial-style imagery.

In terms of costs, Burgh House is generally considered good value for a historic London venue. Venue hire prices vary depending on the day of the week, time of year and spaces used, but couples can typically expect hire fees to start from around £1,500 to £2,000 for smaller ceremonies, rising to approximately £3,500 to £4,500 for larger weddings with extended use of the house and garden. Additional costs may include registrar fees, catering, furniture hire and staffing. As Burgh House works with approved caterers, catering costs are separate and can be tailored to suit a range of budgets and styles.

Overall, Burgh House London is perfect for couples seeking an elegant, intimate wedding venue with historic charm, beautiful light and a strong sense of place. It suits couples who value atmosphere over scale, and who want a wedding day that feels relaxed, personal and effortlessly stylish, right in the heart of one of London’s most picturesque neighbourhoods.
